A lifetime of reading is a life-long treasure hunt.
The Friends were incorportated as a Non-Profit Charitable Organization in November, 1981.
In 1995, Mr. Douglas Redgrave, a devoted supporter of the Port Angeles Library, died and left the bulk of his estate
to the Port Angeles Friends of the Library with instructions that it be used for the support of the Port Angeles Branch Library.
The Trust has been managed from its inception by James Hallett Associates of Port Angeles in conjunction with a committee
of Friends. The Financial Advisory and Budget Committee (FABCOM) is required by the Friend's by-laws to consist of at least
three persons, one of whom must be a Governing Board Member.
A formula is in place to determine funds available annually for grants to the library. It is agreed that 90% of the total
net earnings of the Trust may be utilized for grant funding. The remaining 10% is retained in the body of the Trust.
In addition to Trust funds, the Friends operate the bookstore, with funds from the sale of donated items going to support
Library programs. There are also seasonal sales and fund raising events to support the Library.
